GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Colorado Mesa women's tennis team split matches in Arizona on Friday (Feb. 26). They defeated Glendale Community College 9-0 and fell 5-4 to Arizona Christian.

The Mavericks started off by sweeping doubles against Glendale Community College.

Amy Beeston and Emily Beckley defeated Jordan Vlad and Theresa Jones 8-4 at No. 1 and Katie Kirby and Katie Metz beat Natalie Mendehall and Ashley Smith 8-2.

Katie Kirby won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles while Emily Dodson won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2.

Michelle Phillips, Taylor Hershey, Bethany Caldwell and Georgia Hansen all got wins at No. 3-6.

In their second match, they started off with singles.

Emily Beckley won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 4 and Michelle Phillips got a 6-1, 6-2 win. Amy Beeston was the only other singles win for the Mavericks. She won 6-3, 7-5.

Katie Kirby and Katie Metz defeated Desiree Curiel and Lauryn Sullins 8-3 at No. 3.

The match was decided on the No. 2 doubles teams. Emily Beckley and Amy Beeston fell to Tia Okano and Iulia Marceno 8-6 to give Arizona Christian the win.

CMU finishes their weekend against Mesa Community College tomorrow (Feb. 27).
