SPEARFISH, S.D. - The Colorado Mesa Women's basketball team suffered a 58-53 loss to Black Hills State on Friday evening in South Dakota. The loss ended a three-game win streak for CMU.

The Mavericks held the Yellow Jackets to six points in the first quarter, but at half the Yellow Jackets had a 23-22 lead.

CMU made a push in the third quarter to go up 45-39 to start the fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter belonged to the Yellow Jackets as they outscored the Mavs 19-8.

Bench points were the difference down the stretch. The Yellow Jacket's bench outscored the Maverick's bench 22-12. The Yellow Jackets were 16-8 in second chance points.

The biggest discrepancy in the game came at the free-throw line where Black Hills State shot 44 free-throws to the Mavericks 14.

Bryanna Adams led the Mavericks with 15 points and was the only Maverick to score in double figures. She was 4-for-10 from the field and 3-for-6 from the three point line.

Sydney Small both finished with nine points with seven and four rebounds respectively.

Black Hills State was led by Taylor Trohkimoinen and Bailey Kusser who both had nine points.

The Mavericks will play at South Dakota Mines tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
