DENVER, Colo. – For the first time this season, the Colorado Mesa volleyball team was swept in straight sets. MSU Denver defeated the Mavericks 3-0 (22-25, 20-25, 17-25) on Tuesday (Nov. 8) evening at the Auraria Events Center in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match.
Colorado Mesa just could not slow down the Roadrunner attack as they hit well over .300 in every set. The Mavericks could only muster a hitting percentage of .250 in the second set.
The Mavericks dropped the first set 25-22 but was able to climb out of the early deficit and knot the match at 16-16 but could never regain the lead.
In the see-saw second set, Colorado Mesa fell 25-20 to MSU Denver. There were five lead changes including four from 11-11 to 18-18 but once again the Mavericks could never regain the lead.
MSU Denver gained control of the third set and never looked back, winning 25-17.
Mackenzie Edwards led the Maverick attack with 12 kills, which tied for a match-high, and capped the double-double with 11 digs. She also registered the Mavericks two service aces on the evening.

Taylor Woods finished the night with a match-high 12 digs.
Colorado Mesa falls to 18-7 on the season and 12-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. A win on Saturday will clinch the No. 3 seed in next week's RMAC Tournament.
The Mavericks will close out the regular season on Saturday in Brownson Arena against the Regis Rangers at 6pm.
