GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa volleyball team dropped its second straight three set match, falling to Regis 3-0 (20-25, 15-25, 23-25) on Saturday evening in the regular season finale for both teams in Brownson Arena.
The last time the Mavericks were swept at home was October 27, 2012 against 25
th ranked Adams State.
Regis claimed the first set 25-20 after Colorado Mesa committed nine errors in the set.
In the second set, the Rangers had an 86 percent sideout rate en route to a 25-15 win. The Mavericks hit just .162 in the set with
Hattie Gianinetti leading the way with five kills and a .556 attack percentage.
After falling behind early in the third set, Colorado Mesa trailed 20-15 but battled back to tie the match at 23-23 before surrendering the final two points to the Rangers.
Four Mavericks for the team-high with seven kills.
The loss puts the Mavericks into a potential four-way tie for third place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings heading into next week's RMAC Tournament.
