GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa volleyball team swept the CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves in straight sets 3-0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-16) on Friday evening in Brownson Arena in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match.
The Mavericks (12-3, 6-1 RMAC) took the first set 25-18 behind a .227 hitting percentage and they limited the ThunderWolves to a .070 percentage.
Colorado Mesa had 31 digs in the set with nine coming from
Taylor Woods and eight from
Kricket Adleman.
In the second set, the Mavericks led until the 13-13 mark of the set but gave it away to CSU-Pueblo. They regained the lead at 24-23 and went on to win 26-24 to take a 2-0 lead.
Mackenzie Edwards tallied six of her match-high 16 kills in the set.
In the match clinching set, the Mavericks converted on 14 kills and benefitted from 10 ThunderWolf errors in the set for a 25-16 win.
Edwards and
Allison Smith both had four kills in the set.
Smith finished with 10 kills on the evening while teammate
Hattie Gianinetti had 11 kills and finished with a match-high .409 hitting percentage.
Woods dug out 23 balls on the evening while Adleman finished with 12 digs. Edwards finished the double-double with 12 digs.
RMAC Setter of the Week
Ali Svorinic had 36 assists (12 assists/set) and finished with six digs.
Colorado Mesa will be back in action tomorrow night when they play host to New Mexico Highlands at 7pm in Brownson Arena.
