RAPID CITY, S.D. – The 24
th ranked Colorado Mesa volleyball team got back on the winning track on Saturday evening when they took down the South Dakota Mines Hardrockers in straight sets (25-20, 29-27, 25-10) in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match.
Gabriela Dias led the Mavericks with 10 kills and hit .421 in the match. She also added a team and season-high seven blocks assists and one dig. Dias accounted for 13.5 total Maverick points.
Colorado Mesa battled through the first two sets, combining for 29 kills and 15 errors.
In the third set alone, Colorado Mesa hit .444 with 12 kills and no errors in putting away the Hardrockers 25-10.
Senior setter
Ali Svorinic finished the night with 30 assists (10 assists/set) and led the hitters to a .263 hitting percentage on the evening. Svorinic added six digs and two block assists.
Allison Smith tallied nine kills and was efficient in the process, hitting a season-high .438.
Colorado Mesa improves to 16-4 on the season and 10-2 in the conference while South Dakota Mines falls to 1-22, 0-12 in the RMAC.
The Mavericks will be back in action on Tuesday when they take on Western State in Brownson Arena at 7pm.
