Ryan Stephan made 9-of-15 shots from the floor to finish with a game-high 26 points. He tallied his 14
th double-double of the season with 13 rebounds.
Eimer Lopez posted the best game of his career scoring a career-high 24 points, five assists and a career-high five steals.
CJ Davis was the third Maverick to pour in more than 20 points as he finished with 21, thanks to five 3-pointers.
Pueblo drained three straight 3-pointers to claim an early 13-4 lead less than four minutes into the game.
Mesa responded with a 12-3 run to tie the game at 16 midway through the first.
CJ Davis drained one of his game-high five 3's less than two minutes later to give CMU the lead for good 21-18.
CSUP tried to stay with CMU by shooting 3-pointers but could not get the shots to fall shooting 4-13 (30.8-percent) in the first half. Pueblo struggled even more from deep in the second shooting 23-percent (4-17).
CMU led 40-31 at the break and would run away in the second half outscoring CSUP 53-35 over the final 20 minutes.
Much of Mesa's success in the second half can be credited to its defense. The Mavs forced 10 turnovers and notched 10 of its 13 steals in the second.
CMU's defense created an 11-2 run midway in the second to push the lead to 20, 62-42.
Syrus McDonald made a 3-pointer for CSUP with six minutes left to close the lead to 73-60, but CMU closed on a dominating 30-6 run, it's largest of the game, to secure the win.
Odessa Lear led the Pack with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
CMU shot 50-percent (32-64) from the field and held CSUP to 36-percent (22-61).
Mesa shot 21-of-27 (77.8-percent) from the line compared to 12-of-13 (92.3) for Pueblo.
The Mavs ended with a 40-35 rebounding edge and outscored the Pack 44-16 in the paint.
Colorado Mesa (14-6, 10-4) will host rival Western State Saturday (Jan. 29).Â
