Ryan Stephan scored a game-high 26 points on 8-of-14 from the field and 9-of-13 from the free throw line after scoring only five points in the first half. He grabbed 11 rebounds to get his 15
th double-double of the season.

The game stayed pretty even in the first half with three lead changes and six ties. The Mavericks would enter the half leading 33-30.

The Mavs opened the second half on a 26-9.

Defense was key for Colorado Mesa holding Western State to 39-percent (23-59) from the field and under 14-percent (3-22) from the three-point line as well as forcing 14 turnovers.

The Mavericks finished the game shooting 52.8-percent (30-57) from the field and 33.3-percent from behind the arc (6-18).

CJ Davis finished with 14 points shooting 4-for-8 from the field and 3-for-6 behind the arc. He also added two steals and two assists while
Kabir West contributed seven rebounds and scored 12 points on 5-for-11 shooting from the field.

CJ Schutt led Western State with 20 points and eight rebounds.

The Mavs outrebounded the Mountaineers 33-25 and shot 23-33 from the free throw line compared to 13-19 for WSCU.

Colorado Mesa will travel to New Mexico next weekend to take on Western New Mexico and New Mexico Highlands.
