DENVER –
Ryan Stephan scored 33 points and grabbed a career-high 21 rebounds to lead the Colorado Mesa University men's basketball team to a 105-80 win at Regis Friday (Jan. 22).
The 105 points that CMU scored tied its season-high which they set earlier this season against Weber International.
Stephan shot 70-percent from the field converting 14-of-20 field goals. He dominated the boards grabbing a career-high 21 rebounds, including eight on the offensive glass. His
previous high for rebounds was 19.
CMU finished with a lopsided 41-29 edge in rebounds.
The Mavericks, who shot a season-high 56-percent (39-69) from the field, had four other players score in double figures.
Kabir West made 7-of-10 field goals to finish with a career-high 20 points.
CJ Davis made a game-high five 3-pointers and tallied 18 points.
Eimer Lopez and
Connor Nichols each contributed 10 points.
Mesa's defense held Regis to 41-percent (27-65) from the field. Ryan Beisty led the Rangers with 18 points.
Regis kept the game close in the first with Mesa leading by no more than a handful. The Mavericks made a run late in the half to lead 43-30 at the half.
Regis cut the Mesa lead to 10 points, 56-46, with a 3-pointer with 13 minutes left in the game.
CMU controlled the game until the end for the win to improve to 12-6 overall and 8-4 in the RMAC.
