CJ Davis scored a game-high 21 points and
Ryan Stephan tallied a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Colorado Mesa University men's basketball team in an 88-71 win over Adams State Saturday (Jan. 16).
The game started on an odd note as a technical foul was issued to Adams State for not starting the players listed in the scorebook.
ASU's quick tempo offense gave them an early lead, but CMU battled back to take the lead 14-12 with a 3-pointer from
CJ Davis.
Mesa would lead by double digits for most of the first and lead 50-35 at the half.
CMU shot 57-percent (19-33) in the first and held ASU to 43-percent (13-30) in the first. The Mavs held the Grizzlies to a game-low 31-percent (13-41) from the field in the second and outscored Adams 38-36.
Brandon Hoffer was the third Mav in double figures with 12 points.
Eimer Lopez dished out a career-high 13 assists, the most by a Maverick this season. He tallied eight points and four steals.
CMU out-scored ASU 46-30 in the paint, but ASU led in points off turnovers (21-16) and second chance points (13-5).
Kendyl Grover led Adams with a double-double (21 pts, 12 rebounds).
Colorado Mesa (11-6, 7-4) will play at Regis Jan. 22
