Volleyball Wins Two On West Coast

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – The No. 10 Colorado Mesa University volleyball team closed out the Seaside Invitational Tournament with a pair of wins Saturday (Sept. 5).

"I am very proud of the team," said head coach Dave Fleming. "They could have felt sorry for themselves and rolled over. They didn't. The stepped up and found a way to fight and win. I am already looking forward to getting back in the gym on Monday and finding a way to close the gap on UCSD and Point Loma."

CMU opened with a sweep of San Francisco State (25-15, 26-24, 25-17) in a match that lasted just 75 minutes. Colorado Mesa finished with a 50-30 edge in assists.

The Mavericks hit .361 for the match, including .571 in the final set. The Mavs tallied 23 kills in the final set.

Caitie Breaux tallied her second straight double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs while hitting .524.

Abby Ney led the Mavs hitting .542 with 15 kills.

Caitie Breaux recorded her third double-double thanks to 11 kills and 10 digs.
