Swing For Life
Colorado Mesa will be hosting Swing for Life an organization that focuses on breast cancer awareness. Donations will be accepted throughout the weekend.
Series
Colorado Mesa has won all three meetings against Black Hills State since the Yellow Jackets joined the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in 2012. CMU has outscored BHSU 128-71 in the series.
Coach Martin
Last week's win at Chadron was the first for head coach
Russ Martin against his alma mater. This week he faces Black Hills State where he took his first head coaching job. He led the Yellow Jackets from 1996-99.
Run Game
Jonathon Beverly has established himself as one of the top running backs in Div. II. The Littleton, Colo., native is second in the RMAC and ranks 16th in rushing yards per carry at 6.97. He ranks third in the league and 19th nationally in rushing yards (467) and third in the league and 24th nationally in rushing yards per game (116.8).
Passing Game
Colorado Mesa recorded just 69 yards of passing offense at Chadron State last week.
Sean Rubalcaba completed 6-of-18 passes for 69 yards, 54 of which were caught by
Derek Vander Velde. Rubalcaba was the team's second-highest rusher at Chadron finishing with 72 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Score 20
Colorado Mesa is 3-0 this season when it scores 20 or more points and 0-1 when it scores less than 19.
Second Quarter
CMU has scored more points in the second quarter (44) than any other quarter. BHSU has given up more points in the second quarter (72) than any other. The Mavs are 3-0 this season when they score first.
Field Goal Success
Ryan Sheehan ranks third in the nation and first in the RMAC in field goals per game with two. The Chandler, Ariz., native is 72-percent (7-11) on field goals this season, third best in the league. Sheehan leads the team in scoring with 38 points (eight field goals and 14 extra points).
Make Them Pay
CMU has scored 44 points off of 12 turnovers this season (3.6 points per turnover). Opponents have scored just seven points on six turnovers (1.2 points per turnover).
