The Colorado Mesa University football team will host Adams State in the RMAC opener for both schools. Colorado Mesa enters the contest 1-1 overall while Adams State is 0-2. 

Defense
Colorado Mesa has established itself as one of the best defenses in the RMAC this season. Colorado Mesa currently leads the RMAC in several defensive categories including; scoring defense (9.5 ppg), total defense (307.5), pass defense (136.0), opponent's third down conversion (25.8) and opponent's fourth down conversion (.000).

Saager Repeats
Tom Saager was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week. The Centennial, Colo., native made 18 tackles, including 10 solo, against Midwestern State. He leads the RMAC with 27 tackles. 

Protect the End Zone
Colorado Mesa has not allowed an offensive touchdown since Nov. 15, 2014 when Western State scored at the 10:18 mark of the fourth quarter, a span of 130 minutes and 18 seconds and one overtime period. 

Century Mark
DJ Hubbard rushed for over 100 yards for the first time this season with 129 yards on 25 carries (5.1 ypc) against Midwestern State. The last time he ran for over 100 yards was also against a team from Texas, Texas A&M-Kingsville. He carried the ball 17 times for 126 yards (7.4 ypc) against the Javelinas. 

Offensive Explosion
CMU is averaging 472 yards of total offense while holding its opponents to 307 per game. Mesa also leads in passing yards, 187-136, and rushing yards, 285-171. 

Second Quarter Success
CMU has scored 23 of its 56 points in the second quarter this season. Opponents have also scored 10 of their 19 points in the second quarter.

Blocked Field Goals
Adams State and Colorado Mesa have a history of blocking field goals against each other. The last time CMU blocked a field goal was against ASU in 2014. The last Mesa field goal blocked was by Adams in 2013. 

Plenty of Targets
Colorado Mesa has had 12 different players catch a pass this season. Marcus Hines leads the team in catches (nine), receiving yards (127) and touchdowns (two). 

Punt Returns
Colorado Mesa currently ranks third in the league in punt return average at 17.0 yards per carry. Dustin Rivas leads the league in punt return average at 17.0 yards per carry, with a long of 28 yards. 

Quarterbacks
Sean Rubalcaba and Aric Kaiser both saw action at quarterback for the second straight week for CMU. Rubalcaba completed two-of-five passes before leaving the game with an injury. Kaiser completed 16-of-32 passes for 144 yards with one touchdown and one interception. 

Field Goal Success
Ryan Sheehan leads the league in field goal percentage at 83-percent. He has made five-of-six field goals with a long of 33-yards. 

Series
Adams State has dominated the series with Mesa winning seven of the last 10 meetings. 

Third Down Success
Colorado Mesa currently leads the RMAC in third down efficiency at 42-percent. 

Pepsi Pregame
Pepsi will be hosting a pre-game tailgate Saturday. Pepsi will be handing out free hot dogs and Pepsi products. 

Looking Ahead
Colorado Mesa will play its first conference road game of the season at Chadron State Sept. 26th.
