Defense
Colorado Mesa has established itself as one of the best defenses in the RMAC this season. Colorado Mesa currently leads the RMAC in several defensive categories including; scoring defense (9.5 ppg), total defense (307.5), pass defense (136.0), opponent's third down conversion (25.8) and opponent's fourth down conversion (.000).
Saager Repeats
Tom Saager was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week. The Centennial, Colo., native made 18 tackles, including 10 solo, against Midwestern State. He leads the RMAC with 27 tackles.Â
Protect the End Zone
Colorado Mesa has not allowed an offensive touchdown since Nov. 15, 2014 when Western State scored at the 10:18 mark of the fourth quarter, a span of 130 minutes and 18 seconds and one overtime period.Â
Century Mark
DJ Hubbard rushed for over 100 yards for the first time this season with 129 yards on 25 carries (5.1 ypc) against Midwestern State. The last time he ran for over 100 yards was also against a team from Texas, Texas A&M-Kingsville. He carried the ball 17 times for 126 yards (7.4 ypc) against the Javelinas.Â
Offensive Explosion
CMU is averaging 472 yards of total offense while holding its opponents to 307 per game. Mesa also leads in passing yards, 187-136, and rushing yards, 285-171.Â
