PUEBLO, COLO. – The Colorado Mesa University women's tennis swept a pair of matches Saturday (Sept. 12) in Pueblo, Colo.
Mesa opened with a 9-0 sweep of Fort Hays State.
Frederikke Karst and
Emily Dodson picked up an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles.
Michelle Phillips and
Katie Kirby won 8-2 at No. 2, and
Emily Beckley and
Amy Beeston won 8-1 at No. 3.
Karst defeated Laura Jimenez-Lendin 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1 singles.
Katie Kirby downed Jessica Johnson 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) at No. 2.
Emily Dodson earned the win (6-1, 6-0) at No. 3, and
Emily Beckley was victorious (6-0, 6-1) at No. 4.
Taylor Hershey and
Bethany Caldwell also collected wins at No. 5 and 6.
Mesa finished the day with a 5-0 win over Central Oklahoma.
Karst and Dodson once again won at No. 1 doubles 8-4.
The Mavericks switched up their other two doubles teams.
Katie Metz and
Amy Beeston defeated Alix Williams and Alli Hodges 9-7.
Taylor Hershey and
Emily Beckley won 8-3 at No. 3.
Emily Dodson won in straight sets (6-0, 6-0) over Amelie Moyna Lobel at No. 3.
Amy Beeston defeated Shali Schoepflin 7-5, 6-1 at No. 6.
The four remaining singles matches were unfinished.
CMU (2-2) will participate in a singles and doubles tournament at MSU Denver Sept. 18-19.
