LAST WEEKEND
Colorado Mesa took three-of-four games from eighth ranked CSU-Pueblo at Suplizio Field. The Mavericks outscored the ThunderWolves 23-13 in the series and limited the top hitting team in the RMAC to a .184 batting average in the four games.

RMAC PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Colorado Mesa had their sixth consecutive week with one of their athletes named either the player or pitcher of the week by the RMAC. Tyler Ehlers was named the pitcher of the week after going eight innings in his third career start. He limited the top hitting team in the RMAC to just three hits and a .115 batting average in the game. Ehlers follows Austin Wallingford, Ryan Reno, Kyle Serrano, Alex Fife and Nick Cardinale in the player of the week honors.

BIG FIRST INNING
Colorado Mesa is outscoring their opponents 24-9 in the first inning of games this season. This past weekend they only allowed one run in the first two innings in any of the four games.

TROUBLE INNINGS
The Mavericks are outscoring their opponents in every inning. The only innings where they have had trouble are the third and the fifth, usually a teams second and third time through the batting order.

POLLS
For the fourth straight week, Colorado Mesa is ranked No. 1 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Coaches Poll. They are also in the top spot in the D2BaseballNews.com poll and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers poll.

THE BIG LEFTY
Junior Tyler Ehlers made his third career start last Thursday in the series opener against CSU-Pueblo. The Aurora native pitched a career-high eight innings and allowed one unearned run on three hits, walked two and struck out three. He limited the top hitting team in the RMAC to just a .115 batting average in the game while earning his fourth win of the season.

WELCOME BACK ZACH
Freshman Zach McLeod returned to the field this past weekend after having an injury on his hand. McLeod batted in his familiar second spot and hit .357 with four doubles on the weekend. 

PROTECTING THE HOUSE
Suplizio Field has been very kind to the Mavericks for several seasons now. The Mavericks are 92-8 the past three seasons including the 18-2 record this season. They have not been shutout at home in 332 games dating back to the 2004 season (L 0-3 Western Oregon, Feb. 14).

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Colorado Mesa played for the NCAA National Championship last year coming up just short to Southern Indiana 3-2 in 12 innings. It was the first time in program history the Mavericks have reached the National Championship game.

ON DECK
The Mavericks will be in the middle of their longest road trip of the season when they travel to Denver for the second of three weeks over on the Front Range. Next weekend, they will take on the Colorado Christian Cougars on Friday and Saturday at All-Star Park.
