GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. –
Jake Douglas scored four goals in Colorado Mesa's 22-9 win over Westminster College on Friday night at Walker Field. The Mavericks are now 8-3 on the season while the Griffins fall to 9-4.
Douglas tallied a hat trick in the first half before he notched his fourth goal in the fourth quarter. He attempted seven shots with four coming on goal.
The Mavericks came out and scored the first three goals of the game to build a 3-0 lead before the Griffins would get on the board.
Colorado Mesa went on a 10-0 run from the 4:40 mark of the first quarter until the 5:20 mark of the second quarter.
They led 13-5 at the half after surrendering three goals in the final five minutes.
Austin Pridham also had a hat trick on the night.
Colorado Mesa won 20 of the 34 faceoff opportunities on the night.
Dane Dixson was 17-of-25 in those chances and picked up three groundballs.
Zach Weaver picked up the win in net playing the first three quarters of the game. He made eight saves and faced 23 shots on the night.
The Mavericks will embark on their final road trip of the season when they travel to Florida next weekend to take on the Tampa Spartans and the Rollins Tars.
