Complete Game Notes vs. MSU DenverLAST WEEKENDColorado Mesa swept the season series with the Colorado Christian Cougars after taking four-games from them in Pueblo last weekend. The Mavericks pounded out a season-high 25 hits in the game three victory. They batted .464 as a team and averaged over 14 runs a game in the series.

RMAC PLAYER OF THE WEEKThe RMAC Player of the Week honor returned to the Western Slope this week. Senior first baseman
Kevin Mitchell was named the recipient this week and he joins seven of his teammates who have been awarded with either the pitcher or player of the week. Mitchell batted .545 with three home runs, seven runs scored, and five walks.
ANOTHER TINO AWARD?Senior catcher
Austin Wallingford has been named a semifinalist for the Tino Martinez Award which is awarded to the national player of the year. Wallingford is hitting .393 with 10 home runs this season. Maverick
Austin Kaiser won the award last season.
DOUBLESThe Mavericks rank eighth in the country in doubles. They have 104 doubles this season and are led by the freshman duo of
Zach McLeod (17) and
Bligh Madris (15).
POLLSThe Mavericks remain at No. 2 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll. They remain in the top spot in the NCBWA poll and the D2Baseballnews.com polls. Perfect Game still has the Mavericks tabbed as the No. 2 team and have been in that spot for three weeks.
OFFENSE CLICKINGThe Colorado Mesa offense has taken some time to get going but they are clicking on all cylinders now. They are ranked fourth in the country in batting average (.357) and eighth in slugging (.540).
UTILITY PLAYERSophomore
Kyle Serrano has played three positions this season. While starting out the season catching, Serrano has played more games at third base then catcher and has spent time as the DH. He is leading the RMAC in hits, runs and RBIs.
PROTECTING THE HOUSESuplizio Field has been very kind to the Mavericks for several seasons now. The Mavericks are 92-8 the past three seasons including the 18-2 record this season. They have not been shutout at home in 332 games dating back to the 2004 season (L 0-3 Western Oregon, Feb. 14).
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPColorado Mesa played for the NCAA National Championship last year coming up just short to Southern Indiana 3-2 in 12 innings. It was the first time in program history the Mavericks have reached the National Championship game.
ON DECKThe Mavericks will close out the regular season next weekend at Suplizio Field when they host the Colorado Mines Orediggers. Friday night's doubleheader will be 'Fireworks Friday Night' with fireworks sponsored by Ed Bozarth-Mark Miller Chevrolet following the game.
