GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa University women's tennis team earned the second seed in the RMAC Tournament after defeating CSU-Pueblo 6-3 in the final match of the regular season Sunday (April 19).
The Mavericks opened the match winning two of three doubles matches.
Kristyn Wykert and
Rachel McLaughlin won 9-8 (5) at No. 1 doubles, and
Emily Dodson and
Amy Beeston won 8-1 at No. 2.
Natalie Martin and
Kristyn Wykert lost at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, but the Mavs won the remaining four singles matches.
Rachel McLaughlin won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3, and
Katie Kirby won 6-1, 6-1.
The final two singles matches came down to three sets.
Emily Dodson won 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5, and
Amy Beeston won 5-7, 6-3, 10-7 at No. 6.
The Mavericks finish the regular season 14-8 overall and 4-1 in the league.
Colorado Mesa will participate in the RMAC Tournament April 24-25 in Pueblo, Colo.Â
