KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Colorado Mesa's second half comeback fell short in a 15-10 loss to Lindenwood University on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference match that was hosted by Rockhurst. The Mavericks fall to 5-3 on the season while the Lions improve to 10-1.
The Mavericks fell behind early as Lindenwood scored the first four goals of the match.
Colorado Mesa was 0-for-7 on faceoffs in the period.
Mitch Flaherty broke the string with a man-advantage goal at the 6:50 mark. The goal was his sixth of the season and was assisted by
David Solomon.
Solomon finished the game with a goal and four assists.
At halftime, Colorado Mesa trailed just 9-6.
The Mavericks got to within one at 9-8 with 13:23 to go in the third period but wouldn't get any closer.
Steve Brandenburg finished the game with a hat trick. The three goals give him 12 on the season.
The Mavericks will conclude their Missouri road trip with a game tomorrow against Rockhurst.
