Nate Hawley scored a career-high 17 points for the Colorado Mesa University men's basketball team in an 85-51 win over Chadron State Saturday (Feb. 7). The Montrose, Colo., native drained five 3-pointers and a pair of free throws in 14 minutes of action.
The Mavericks clicked on both ends of the floor. Offensively they shot 53-percent (30-57) from the floor, including 59-percent (16-27) in the first half.
Defensively Colorado Mesa held the Eagles to just five field goals in the game and 23-percent from the field. CSC shot 28-percent (15-53) for the game.
CMU led 43-14 at the break and would outscore CSC 42-37 in the second.
The Mavericks led for 37:26 in the game.
Ryan Stephan finished with a game-high 19 points, and
Julian Vasquez added 17.
Kendrick Holliman led the Eagles with 13 points.
Colorado Mesa's bench outscored Chadron's 49-16.
The Mavericks turned the ball over six times while forcing 11.
CMU (15-7, 10-6) will play at New Mexico Highlands Feb. 13.
