GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado College scored the last six goals of the game to defeat Colorado Mesa 13-9 in men's lacrosse Saturday (Feb. 28).
The first quarter featured three goals apiece by the Mavericks and Tigers.
Daniel Caddoo and
Josh Russell opened the second half with a pair of goals for CMU, but CC closed the half with three straight.
The Mavericks tied the game at 7-7 after three periods with two more goals by Caddoo and
Austin Pridham.
Steve Brandenburg netted a goal for the Mavs at 12:08 of the fourth quarter, and
Daniel Caddoo scored his game-high fourth goal of the game 30 seconds later to extend the CMU lead to 9-7.
The Tigers then closed the game with six straight goals for the win.
CC out-shot CMU 38-33, including 9-5 in the fourth quarter.
The Tigers also won 15 of 24 faceoffs.
David Solomon and
Michael Beimford each tallied three points for Mesa.
Gray Ritger and Eric Neumeyer each finished with five points for Colorado College.
Zach Weaver made 10 saves in goal for CMU.
