HISTORY WITH THE COUGARS
Colorado Mesa is 25-3 against the Cougars in the last five seasons. One of the losses occurred in the opening game of the RMAC season when they lost 6-5. The loss snapped an eight game win streak against the Cougars.

NON CONFERENCE SCHEDULE
The Mavericks came out of their non-conference schedule with an 8-2 record. They may have faced three of the top five teams the West Region has to offer. Colorado Mesa dropped one game to the PacWest Conference's Dixie State and Cal Baptist.

POLLS
Colorado Mesa is ranked in the top ten in all four of the National Polls. They are ranked second in the NCBWA writer's poll and third in both the Collagiate Baseball and D2 Baseball News poll. The Mavericks are currently ranked No. 1 in the NCBWA South Central Region poll released this week. They received six of the eight first place votes and were followed by No. 2 Angelo State.

RIGHT GUY, RIGHT SPOT
Senior Austin Wallingford leads the Mavericks in runs driven in this season with 11. Wallingford bats in either the four or five spot this season and has had runners runners on base in 24 of his 40 at-bats (.333). He has been successful in 63 percent of his at-bats moving runners.

STARTING ON A STREAK
Colorado Mesa opened the season on a five game winning streak and finished the non conference portion of the schedule 8-2. The 8-2 start matches only the start they had in 2009, the first year they reached the NCAA World Series.

CHANGES IN THE ROTATION
The Mavericks will make a pair of changes in the rotation this weekend. Matt Delay will take the week off to heal a lingering injury and Matt Allen will take his place. This will be Allen's first start of the season with his last start coming in the NCAA Regional Tournament against St. Edward's. The other change will be in game four where Trent Allianic will get his first start of the season replacing Dakota Behr who will move back to the bullpen.

PROTECTING THE HOUSE
Suplizio Field has been very kind to the Mavericks for several seasons now. The Mavericks are 77-7 the past three seasons including the 3-1 start this season. They have not been shutout at home in 328 games dating back to the 2004 season (L 0-3 Western Oregon, Feb. 14)

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Colorado Mesa played for the NCAA National Championship last year coming up just short to Southern Indiana 3-2 in 12 innings. It was the first time in program history the Mavericks have reached the National Championship game.

ON DECK
The Mavericks will travel to Denver to take on the MSU Denver Roadrunners in a four-game series. THe Roadrunners are playing in a brand new ballpark this season at the Regency Athletic Complex.
