GUNNISON, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa University men's basketball team scored a season-high 103 points in a 103-68 win at Western State Saturday (Feb. 22).
The Mavericks led from start to finish and shot 56-percent (35-63) from the field in the game.
The Mountaineers shot 39-percent (22-57) from the field.
Ryan Stephan scored a game-high 33 points, including 12-of-14 from the line, and grabbed 12 rebounds to complete the double-double.
Julian Vasquez finished with 14, Mike Melillo scored 13 and
Landon Vermeer added 12 for the Mavericks.
Danny Hopkins led Western State with 17 points.
Mesa led 50-31 at half and out-scored Western 53-37 in the second half.
CMU dominated the glass finishing with a 45-24 edge.
Colorado Mesa shot 22-of-29 (76-percent) from the free throw line while Western State was 13-of-19 (68-percent).
CMU (19-7, 14-6) will host Adams State Feb. 27
