GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Colorado Mesa head men's soccer coach Todd Padgett announced the signing of 12 student-athletes to National Letters on Intent (NLI) and will be eligible to play beginning in the fall of 2015. The Mavericks, coming off a trip to the NCAA National Semifinals, signed a group that includes student-athlete's from four different states and one from Mexico.

"We are very excited about this recruiting class and officially welcome them and their families to ours. These are young men who excel in the classroom and a group that will make our University and men's soccer program proud," Padgett said. "We've added great intelligence, size, speed, athleticism, and technical ability to our team with the 2015 class. With what we have coming back and what we've added, we are expecting to again compete for championships and trophies next season."
 

Cody Calcagno Westminster, Colo. (Standley Lake High School) Westminster AFC Four-Time All-Jeffco selection...Colorado ODP Tournament...Colorado Cup Champions...Academic All-State Coach's Comments: "Cody has many qualities as an outside back but the few that first come to mind are his speed of play, technical ability, and sound decision making."

Geoffrey Chappaz Goleta, Calif. (Dos Pueblos High School) Costal Valley Soccer Club Quarterfinalist of SoCal League Cup...High School League Champions. Coach's Comments: "Geoffrey is a hard working wide player able to play on either the right of left hand side. Another gifted athlete, Geoffrey's passion and love for the game is second to none and contagious."

Kevin Del Mazo Apablaza Aurora, Colo. (Smoky Hill High School) Colorado Storm Golden Boot Award Winner...Four-Time All-Centennial League selection...Two-time Centennial League Player of the Year...Three-time All-State selection Coach's Comments: ""Kevin possesses extraordinary technical ability, intellect, and vision. He will mainly be used as a winger for us and will give us an added threat in the wide spaces."

Jacob Dominguez Queen Creek, Ariz. (Queen Creek High School) Arizona Arsenal Two-time All-State selection...Scored over 125 goals in high school...Leading scorer at the ODP regional tournament...Named Top 18 at Regional Tournament. Coach's Comments: "Jacob is a pure scorer and also has that unique ability to be in the right place at the right time. He can isolate and create things for himself and also play a part in building from the back forward."

Briley Guarneri Gilbert, Ariz. (Campo Verde High School) Arizona Arsenal Defensive Player of the Year...State Cup Finalist...Played for Arizona '97 ODP Team and allowed just four goals in 15 games. Coach's Comments: "He's great at commanding his box and organizing the lines in front of him. He really is well beyond his years in regards to his organizational ability as a goalkeeper."

Hagen Hyatt Tucson, Ariz. (Catalina Foothills High School) TSA 96 Red Made the state semifinals. Coach's Comments: "Hagen is that pass first center midfielder that will greatly help in possession. He's active, technical, and has a very big wit for the game."

Keevah McCarty Ridgway, Colo. (Ridgway High School) Western Slope Premier All-time leading goal scorer...Two-time All-State selection. Coach's Comments: "Very confident and clever on the ball, we believe he will be a handful for defenders trying to contain him. He has very good pace and loves to compete and take people on out wide."

James McGhee Gilbert, Ariz. (Williams Field High School) Scored 18 goals in 11 games as a senior...All-Division selection...All-Section selection...Two-time Arizona ODP team. Coach's Comments: "James is a fantastic all-around player and athlete. For club and high school, he can be found anywhere through the center of the field whether it be as a center back, center midfielder, or forward. He has exceptional organizational ability, vision, and technical ability and may be used either in the center midfield or central defender for us next year."

Devin O'Donnell Anthem, Ariz. (Sandra Day O'Connor High School) CCV Stars 98 USYS Regional Champions...Arizona ODP Player...Team won the Surf Cup, Premier Las Vegas, and Cerriotos Cups. Coach's Comments: "While Devin is a great defender behind the ball, he too is very gifted in possession. We need players like Devin that our great defenders but also possess the ability to involve themselves in the attack, help in possession, and are superior decision makers."

Oscar Odriozola San Pedro Garza Garcia, Mexico (Oak Lawn Academy) Leading scorer...Trained at the Asia Pacific Football Academy, Chelsea FC and the IMG Academy. Coach's Comments: "Oscar is a very fast clever forward with a certain dynamic. His technical ability is superb along with his wherewithal for goal. He's a player capable of linking to beat or taking players on in a 1 v. 1 situation."

Morgan Pendleton North Richland Hills, Texas (Richland High School) Three-time All-District selection...Defensive Player of the Year...Regional Finalist...Disney Showcase Champions...Academic All-State Coach's Comments: "Morgan is another defender that we are very excited about. A very strong gifted athlete, he makes us stronger from day one. We must have those types of defenders able to play in possession making the right decisions on the ball."

Derek Poehlmann Fort Collins, Colo. (Fort Collins High School) Colorado Rapids Academy All-Conference selection...Denver Post Student Athlete of the Week Coach's Comments: "Derek is a very clever center midfielder capable of playing in a 2 or 3 man system. He's good in possession and in distribution two areas vital for a center midfielder in our system."
