SILVER CITY, N.M. – The Western New Mexico University volleyball team remained undefeated in conference play after defeating Colorado Mesa 3-0 Saturday (Oct. 3).
The Mavericks struggled offensively hitting just .058 for the match with 35 errors.
CMU gave WNMU a fight in the first set but fell in extra points 30-28. The Mavericks out-hit the Mustangs .200 to .197.
CMU committed 17 errors, recorded just nine kills and hit -.190 dropping the second 25-12.
Western New Mexico hit a match-high .237 to win the third set 25-23.
Hattie Gianinetti led the Mavericks with a match-high 13 kills and hit .233.
Mesa led in kills (43-36), assists (43), service aces (7-4) and digs (66-57). Western tallied 15 blocks to five for Mesa.
Ali Svorinic led CMU with a match-high 30 assists, and
Taylor Woods had a match-high 25 digs.
CMU (7-8, 5-2) will host CSU-Pueblo Oct. 9.
