GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. – Colorado Mesa University led in every statistical category in a 3-1 volleyball win over Western State Saturday (Oct. 10).
CMU led in kills (50-35), attack percentage (.224 to .028), assists (49-33), aces (7-4), digs (73-56) and blocks (10-3).
Erin Perez posted her second double-double of the weekend with a match-high 16 kills and 16 digs.
Abby Ney finished with 10 kills and hit .556 without an error.
Ali Svorinic tallied a match-high 47 assists, and
Taylor Woods made a match-high 26 digs.
CMU won the first set 25-15 behind strong defensive play which held WSCU to a -.027 attack percentage.
Mesa held Western to a negative attack percentage of -.059 to win the second set 25-17.
The Mountaineers hit .235 in the third set, the only set it had a positive attack percentage, with 13 kills and held the Mavs to a match-low .107 to win 25-22.
Mesa dominated the fourth set hitting a match-high .378 with 16 kills and two errors to win 25-10.
CMU (9-8, 7-2) will play at Adams State Oct. 16.
