PUEBLO, Colo. –
Julian Vasquez scored a game-high 26 points for Colorado Mesa in an 80-67 RMAC basketball loss at CSU-Pueblo Friday (Jan. 9).
Ryan Stephan added 21 points and nine rebounds for the Mavericks who fall to 11-4 overall and 6-3 in league play.
CSU-Pueblo shot 49-percent (28-57) and held Mesa to 38-percent (23-60) from the field.
The Pueblo defense also blocked six shots and had 10 steals. CMU had one block and four steals.
Tyrone Marshall led Pueblo with 18 points. CSUP finished with a 27-15 edge in points off the bench.
Pueblo scored the first five points of the contest and closed the half on a 15-7 run to lead 33-26.
The Thunderwolves lead would grow to double digits for most of the second half. Pueblo outscored Mesa 47-41 over the final 20 minutes for the 80-67 win.
Tonight's loss paired with last week's loss to Colorado Mines marks the longest losing streak for the Mavericks this season.
CMU will play at No. 2 UCCS Saturday (Jan. 10).Â
