PUEBLO, Colorado –
Stevie Palma's goal in the 55
th minute was all the Colorado Mesa men's soccer team needed in a 1-0 victory over the CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves on Friday evening at Gonzales Field. The Mavericks improved to 4-2-1 on the season and 2-1-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Palma's goal was his first of the season and was unassisted. The Mavericks were outshot on the night 20-8 but each team had four shots on goal.
Brandyn Bumpas got the start in goal and once again didn't disappoint. Bumpas made four saves and faced 20 total shots. It was his second shutout of the season in as many games played and was his fifth of his career which puts him into a third place tie all-time.
CSU-Pueblo was led by the five shots, three on goal, by Matt Marchena.
The Mavericks will head to Alamosa on Sunday for a showdown with the Adams State Grizzlies.
