Mavs Survive Late Comeback by Grizzlies

ALAMOSA, Colo. – Dustin Rivas intercepted an Adams State pass with 51 seconds remaining to secure a 28-20 win for the Colorado Mesa football team at Adams State Saturday (Sept. 20). The game-ending interception is the second this season for Rivas who secured the win over Dixie State with an interception in overtime.

Ryan Sheehan opened the scoring for the Mavericks with a 44-yard field goal with less than a minute remaining in the first quarter to complete an eight play, 23 yard drive.

Aric Kaiser extended the CMU lead to 10 with a three-yard touchdown strike to Steven Lindquist midway through the second quarter. Kaiser completed 9-of-19 passes on the evening for 44 yards.

Marcus Cross intercepted the first of three ASU passes to set-up a 26-yard field goal by Sheehan with seven seconds remaining in the half.

The third quarter featured two more touchdowns by Colorado Mesa, one through the air and one on the ground.
