Box Score 2 GOLDEN, Colo. – Colorado Mesa swept a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference doubleheader from the Colorado Mines Orediggers on Friday afternoon at Darden Field. With the wins, the Mavericks clinched the RMAC regular season conference championship for the third straight season.
In the opener,
Jordan Liester belted two home runs to help the Mavericks to an 8-3 win over the Orediggers. Liester finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs scored, three runs driven in and a double.
Sergio Valenzuela finished the game 4-for-5 with two runs driven in and a pair of stolen bases.
Staff ace
Matt Delay pitched six innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits, walked two and struck out two to earn his seventh win of the season and improve to 7-0.
Sophomore righty
Matt Allen earned his second save of the season. The Fort Collins native pitched the final three innings of the game and allowed just a pair of hits.
In the night cap,
Kevan Elcock's two-run homer in the top of the seventh broke up a 1-1 tie and led the Mavericks to a doubleheader sweep of Colorado Mines.
Tyler Dunnington picked up the win in relief of starter
Joey Danner. Dunnington pitched the final 1.1 innngs and struck out three to earn his second win of the season.
The final two games of the regular season will take place tomorrow at Darden Field. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 12:00pm.
