Box Score 2 DENVER, Colo. – Colorado Mesa outscored the host Regis Rangers 40-15 in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep. The Mavericks improved to 33-8 on the season and 27-5 and are now on a 10-game winning streak.
In game one, Colorado Mesa erupted for 12 runs in the top half of the eighth inning en route to a 19-6 win over the Rangers. The Mavericks pounded out 19 hits with three coming for extra bases in the game.
CMU jumped out to a 7-0 lead before Regis tallied two runs in the fourth.
Austin Wallingford finished the game 3-for-5 with four runs driven in and two runs scored.
Kevin Mitchell went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs driven in.
Matt Delay got the start on the mound and went 5.1 innings and allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits, walked two and struck out four. The win was Delay's sixth of the season.
In game two, the Mavericks pounded out eight home runs, including two by
Jordan Liester and
Trevor Elcock, in a 20-9 win. CMU had 20 hits and benefitted from four Ranger errors.
Colorado Mesa tallied 11 runs in the second inning and only failed to score in the third inning.
Nevin Wilson picked up the win allowing four runs on seven hits, walked one and struck out three in his four innings of work. Wilson improved to 3-1 on the season.
Liester finished the game 3-for-3 with two runs scored and four runs driven in while Elcock finished 2-for-2 coming in as a pinch hitter.
Garrett Carpenter had three hits in the game as well.
The Mavericks and Rangers will conclude their series tomorrow with a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 12:00pm.
