GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa women's tennis team clinched the RMAC regular season title with a 9-0 win over CSU-Pueblo Friday (April 17). The regular season win was the first for the Mavericks since 2009.
Natalie Martin earned a tough three set decision over Toni Alvarez 6-2, 2-6, 10-6.
Kaylee Davis took the win at No. 2 singles, and
Shannen McNamara won at No. 3. Other singles wins included
Rachel McLaughlin at No. 4,
Kristyn Wykert at No. 5 and
Katie Kirby at No. 6.
Davis and McLaughlin won 8-4 at No. 1 doubles, and Wykert and McNamara won 8-0 at No. 2.
Metz and Dodson completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win at No. 3.
The Mavericks will host the RMAC tennis tournament April 18-19. CMU will enter as the top seed and will face the winner of the No. 4-5 match Friday (April 18) at 2 pm.
