Mavericks Top Clan 84-76

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Four Mavericks scored in double-figures and helped No. 16 Colorado Mesa to an 84-76 win over Simon Fraser at the Holiday Inn Thanksgiving Classic in Brownson Arena.
 
Erin Reichle scored a team-high 17 points and handed out a game-high seven assists. Reichle scored 12 points in the second half and shot 2-of-3 from behind the arc.
 
Colorado Mesa shot 48 percent (30-of-62) from the field in the game and 36 percent (10-of-28) from behind the arc. They finished the game 14-of-19 from the charity stripe. The Mavericks limited The Clan to 41 percent (24-of-58) from the field and 63 percent (20-of-32) from the free-throw line.
 
Both teams accounted for 48 fouls in the game with each team having four girls finish with four fouls.
 
Colorado Mesa outscored the Clan 41-36 in the second half behind shooting 53 percent (16-of-30) from the floor in the half.
 
Siu and Saane Lo'amanu took on the task of guarding one of the top scorers in the country tonight in Simon Fraser's Erin Chambers who is averaging over 30 points a game. The Lo'amanu's limited Chambers to just 18 points on 6-of-23 shooting and just 2-of-11 in the second half.
 
Siu Lo'amanu finished with 13 points, Saane Lo'amanu with ten and Laurel Kasel with ten to round out the players in double-figures for the Mavericks.
 
Leanndra Gilbert, in her first game this season, finished with eight points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
 
The Mavericks will close out the Holiday Inn-Airport Thanksgiving Classic against McMurry tomorrow. McMurry fell to Western State 70-67 earlier in the day.
