LAKEWOOD, Colo. – In a battle of WBCA ranked teams, the No. 8 Colorado Mesa women's basketball fell to No. 3 Drury 81-58 on Saturday afternoon in the Colorado Christian Tournament.
The Mavericks allowed 46 points in the first half and shot just 30 percent (18-of-60) in the game while the Panthers shot 47 percent (24-of-51) from the field and nearly 90 percent from the charity stripe.
Kerstin Strong led Colorado Mesa with 14 points. She also had four rebounds and handed out one assist in the game.
Laurin Rivera led the Mavericks with six rebounds while
Erin Reichle led the team with four assists.
Drury was led by Annie Armstrong's 19 points and the double-double (11p, 12r) by Sanyika Shields.
At the half, the Panthers held a 46-31 lead and shot over 50 percent from the floor.
The Mavericks will be off next week but will return to the floor for the Holiday Inn Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 21-22. In the Classic, they will take on Simon Fraser and McMurry.
