LAKEWOOD, Colo. –
Erin Reichle poured in 17 of her game-high 23 points in the first half as No. 8 Colorado Mesa picked up a 70-59 win over Palm Beach Atlantic in their season opener at the Colorado Christian Events Center. It was the Mavericks third consecutive season opening win.
Reichle finished the game with a career-high 23 points and seven three-point field goals. She also had eight rebounds and five assists, both of those were also career-highs.
Colorado Mesa started a brand new five from a year ago. They started Reichle,
Kerstin Strong,
Siu Lo'amanu,
Shanna Halalilo, and
Laurel Kasel. The starters combined for 51 of the team's 70 points and 22 of the team's 44 rebounds.
Siu Lo'amanu finished the game with 11 points and six rebounds while redshirt freshman
Kerstin Strong finished with 10 points and six rebounds in her collegiate debut.
Colorado Mesa trailed 36-35 at half.
Every player scored for the Mavericks.
Palm Beach Atlantic, from West Palm Beach, Florida, was led by Nkiru Anyagaligbo's 14 points.
Colorado Mesa will close out the opening weekend with a matchup against No. 3 Drury in Lakewood.
