UCCS STATSWEEKEND RECAPColorado Mesa extended their win streak to four after upsetting then No. 12 MSU Denver 2-1 on Friday evening and taking down Colorado Christian 1-0 on Sunday.
Kevin Escobar scored a pair of goals in the win over the Roadrunners. His first goal of the game and season was assisted by his twin brother Nestor.
Roy Abergil scored a goal with just 39 seconds left in regulation to lift the Mavericks to the 1-0 victory over Colorado Christian.
BREAST CANCER AWARENESS WEEKENDColorado Mesa is hosting 'Breast Cancer Awareness Weekend' with all athletic events this weekend. CMU 1982 Alum Kathy Howa's foundation 'Swing for Life' will be at soccer matches on Friday accepting donations and selling pink items. The Maverick administrative staff will be wearing pink polos this weekend with the teams selling and wearing pink jerseys and shirts in an effort to fundraise money and to raise awareness for breast cancer.
RMAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEKSenior defender
Stan Schrock was named the RMAC's Defensive Player of the Week for his play against 12th ranked MSU Denver and Colorado Christian. Schrock helped the Maverick defense to a 0.50 goals against average on the weekend and just seven shots on goal. It is the second time a CMU defender has won the honor.
NIGHT TIMEColorado Mesa improved to 4-0 in night matches after a 2-1 win over No. 12 MSU Denver last Friday night. This week they will have a pair of day matches against Regis and UCCS.Â
ABERGIL AT IT AGAINRedshirt sophomore forward
Roy Abergil has five goals scored this season and four of those goals have come as the game-winner. This feat ranks Abergil at No. 4 in NCAA Division II this year with the national leader sitting at five game-winners.
NSCAA REGIONAL POLLColorado Mesa maintained their No. 5 position this week in the NSCAA South Central Region poll just behind No. 4 St. Edward's whom they have already beaten. They meet top ranked Regis on Friday.
FINALLY FIRST HALFThe Mavericks finally tallied a first half goal against MSU Denver last Friday night. It was the first first half goal of the season and it came in the ninth match of the season. The goal also gave CMU their first halftime lead all season.Â
DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPSColorado Mesa has had superb defense the past two seasons but this season may turn out to be the best one ever. The Mavericks rank 18th in the nation in save percentage at .830 and 23rd in goals against average at 0.76, both tops in the RMAC.
Micah Conrads is 19th in NCAA Division II in save percentage at .833 which leads the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

COACHINGFirst year coach
Todd Padgett is in his first collegiate season on the men's side. Padgett spent the last two seasons as the head coach at Eastern New Mexico for the women's program.Â
Assistant coach
Cole Sweetser is in his first season as a collegiate coach. Sweetser was one of the best players in RMAC history and was named to the RMAC's all-century team.
2013 RMAC TOURNAMENT CHAMPSThe Mavericks won their first-ever RMAC Tournament last season, defeating the Regis Rangers 2-1 in double overtime.
Oliver Querin booted in the game-winning goal in the second overtime period and was named to the all-tournament team.
RMAC PRESEASON POLLColorado Mesa was picked to finish second in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and received three first place votes, in the preseason coaches poll. Regis was picked to win the RMAC.
NEXT UPThe Mavericks will head out for a single match on the road on Wednesday against Colorado Mines in Golden before a single match next weekend against the Colorado Christian Cougars on Friday. Colorado Mesa defeated CCU last Sunday. The two teams will play at 3:00pm at Trailblazer Stadium in Lakewood.
