GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa University women's tennis narrowly defeated Dixie State 5-4 Friday (Oct. 3).
Head coach
Dan MacDonald praised the play of
Natalie Martin who won at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles.
Martin defeated Karolin Kukarus 6-3, 6-3 in singles, and teamed up with
Katie Kirby for a 9-7 win at No. 2 doubles.
Emily Dodson and
Amy Beeston earned an 8-5 victory at No. 3 doubles, and Dodson would go on to win 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.
Michelle Phillips earned the final win for the Mavericks at No. 6 singles defeating Sierra Smith 6-4, 6-4.
CMU will wrap-up the fall season with a match against CSU-Pueblo Saturday (Oct. 4).
