Colorado Mesa women's tennis team fell to RMAC foe Western New Mexico in its final regular league dual in Pueblo on Saturday morning. The Mustangs defeated CMU 5-4 winning four of the five singles matches to seal the victory.
CMU took an early lead taking two of three doubles matches entering singles play. Kristyn Wykert and Skyler Nelson at number two doubles were victorious and Emily Dodson and Katie Metz won at number three doubles.
WNMU recorded wins at number one and two singles in straight sets. CMU's Kristyn Wykert won in three sets at number three singles. Emily Dodson notched a victory in straight sets at number four singles.
Saturday afternoon CMU defeated Colorado College 8-1 in non-conference action. CMU swept all three doubles matches for a 3-0 lead entering singles. CMU won five of the six singles matches, all in straight sets for the victory. The Tigers number one singles player edged out a win over CMU's number one player in a third set super tie-break, 6-4, 2-6, 10-5.
CMU will host the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday, April 19-20 at the Elliott Tennis Center on the campus of Colorado Mesa University.
