Mavs Storm T-Wolves 11-6

The Colorado Mesa University baseball team opened up a four-game RMAC series with the CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves at Suplizio Field on Friday night. After a 52 minute wether delay in the middle of the game, the Mavericks came away with an 11-6 victory. The win is the Mavericks ninth in a row and have now won 20 of their past 21 games.

The game was halted for 52 minutes after three and a half innings due to lightning in the area. After the delay was over, Colorado Mesa outscored the Pack 7-3.

The Mavericks outhit the ThunderWolves 14-5 with CSU-Pueblo collecting one more extra base-hit, but they committed three costly errors.

Cody Lahman picked up the win in relief. Lahman pitched three innings and allowed two runs (zero earned) on two hits, walked one and struck out two. He is now 5-0 on the season with four of his wins coming in relief.

Colton Little and Garrett Carpenter each had three hits for the Mavericks. Carpenter extended his hitting streak to 16 games and has reached base safely in 17 straight games while Little had his third consecutive multi-hit game.

Nate Robertson stole his 17th base of the season in the first inning.

Colorado Mesa improved their record to 24-5 on the season and 18-1 in RMAC games while the ThunderWolves fell to 15-13 on the year and 11-8 in RMAC play.

The series will continue tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00pm from Suplizio Field.
