The Colorado Mesa University baseball team concluded its four-game series with the Colorado Mines Orediggers in Golden on Sunday. The Orediggers came out and scored five runs in the first inning and held on to a 7-5 win over Colorado Mesa. The loss ends the Mavericks 11 game win streak and drops them to 15-5 on the season and 9-1 in the RMAC while the Orediggers improve to 6-12 and 3-7 in RMAC games.

The Mavericks fought back after trailing 5-0 after the first inning but just couldnt climb all the way out of the hole. They were able to cut the lead to 7-5 in the ninth and had the tying run come to the plate but couldnt find a way on.

Braden Box, Garrett Carpenter and Mitch Corwin, numbers 1-2-3 in the batting order, each had two hits. Carpenter hit his third double of the season also.

Senior Aaron Corwin got the start for the Mavericks and took the loss. He is now 1-2 on the season.

Colorado Mesa will return home after the eight-game road swing. The Mavericks will take on the New Mexico Highlands Cowboys from Suplizio Field starting Friday at 6:00pm.
