The Colorado Mesa University baseball team traveled to Golden, CO to take on the Colorado Mines Orediggers in a four-game RMAC series. The Mavericks dug themselves out of a two run hole to pick up an 11-4 win at Darden Field. The win extends the Mavericks win streak to nine and improves their record to 13-4 and a perfect 7-0 in the RMAC. Colorado Mines falls to 5-10 and 2-5 in RMAC play.
After trailing 2-0 and headed to the fifth inning,
Mitch Corwin stepped up and delivered a three-run triple down the rightfield line scoring
Jake Kluge,
Colton Schoelkopf, and
Braden Box. The triple put the Mavericks up 4-2 and they never looked back, tallying five runs in the sixth, on in the eighth and one in the ninth in an 11-4 win.
Corwin finished the game 3-for-5 with four RBIs and teammate
Justin Rosales finished with three hits as well.
Righty
Nolan Snell got the start in game one and kept the Mines' bats at bay. Snell scattered seven hits, walked three and struck out eight while allowing three runs in seven innings of work. Snell improved his record to 3-1 on the season.
The Mavericks and Orediggers will continue their series with a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at noon. The games are being moved up with the potential of rain tomorrow night in Golden.
