GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Colorado Mesa men's and women's swim teams shook out the cobwebs Saturday (Oct. 5) with the Maroon vs. Black Intersquad Meet.
Briana Purkapile led the maroon team with three wins. The Parker, Colo., native won the 500 free (5:33.34), 1,000 free (11:23.77) and was a member of the winning 200 medley relay team (1:55.35).
Miranda Reetz was also a member of the winning medley relay team and won both the 200 individual medley (2:16.59) and 100 breaststroke (1:10.89).
Kent Olsen-Stavrakas won three events on the men's side. The Littleton, Colo., native took top honors in the 50 (21.21) and 100 free (47.32) in addition to swimming a leg of the winning 200 medley relay (1:36.44).
Jarren Brinton swept the distance freestyle events winning the 500 (4:57.16) and 1,000 (10:22.56).
Thomas Stutzriem also won two events, the 100 breaststroke (1:00.11) and the 200 individual medley (2:01.33).
The Maverick's will host the Intermountain Shootout Oct. 11-12.
