Football Hosts Mines For Homecoming

Colorado Mesa will host Colorado Mines for Homecoming Saturday (Oct. 26). The Mavericks enter the game on a four-game winning streak, its first since 2008, and are 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the league. Mines enters the contest 4-3 overall and 3-2 in the RMAC after dropping a 48-28 decision at CSU-Pueblo last weekend. 
The Series
Colorado Mesa leads the all-time series with Colorado Mines 28-9. The Mavericks are 14-2 all-time against the Orediggers, but Mines has won the last four meetings between the two schools. 
National Leaders
Colorado Mesa leads the nation in red zone defense (.476) and is tied for the national lead in interceptions with Shaw at 17. West Liberty and Indiana (Pa.) ranks second in red zone defense at .500. 
Player of the Week
Junior linebacker Andrew Hurley was named RMAC Player of the Week after making 11 tackles and three sacks. The Phoenix, Ariz., native forced a pair of fumbles and returned one 84-yards for a touchdown. The last time a Maverick returned a fumble for a touchdown was Connor Wright who returned one 90 yards against New Mexico Highlands on Sept. 25, 2010. 

Penalties
Mesa was whistled for just two penalties at Fort Lewis. The Mavs are averaging 62.7 penalty yards per game, second fewest in the RMAC. 
Through the Air
Aric Kaiser had another strong showing at quarterback at Fort Lewis. The Broomfield, Colo., native set season-highs for pass completions (18) and passing yards (255) in the win at Fort Lewis. He threw a season-high three touchdown passes. 
CMU set season-highs for both passing yards (258) and total offense (452) against Fort Lewis. 
Catching Passes
Junior Nate Neville become the first CMU wide receiver this season to record more than 100 receiving yards in a game. The Littleton, Colo., native finished with 101 yards receiving and a pair of touchdown catches. Neville is the first CMU receiver with over 100 yards since Robert Felberg finished with 127 yards against New Mexico Highlands on Sept. 29, 2012. 
Triple Threat
Fort Lewis was the first game that Colorado Mesa had a player finish with 100 yards rushing, 100 yards receiving and 200 yards passing since Sept. 29, 2013 against New Mexico Highlands. 
Shutouts
Colorado Mesa is the only team in the RMAC with two shutouts this season.
Offense vs. Defense
Colorado Mines enters the contest ranked second in the RMAC in scoring offense at 41.3 points per game, 18th best in the nation. Colorado Mesa leads the league in scoring defense allowing 14.4 points per game, seventh best in the nation. 
Pass Defender
Junior cornerback Jordan Price leads the RMAC and ranks fourth in the nation in interceptions with five. The Fort Worth, Texas, native picked-off a pass at Fort Lewis and returned it 55 yards. The interception return was the longest by a CMU player this season.

Colorado Mesa will play at CSU-Pueblo Nov. 2.
