Colorado Mesa University fell to #5 Hawaii Pacific University 5-0 at the NCAA National Tennis Championships at Top Gun Tennis Academy in Louisville, Ky. The loss eliminates the Mavericks (19-10) and the Sea Warriors (16-6) advance to the quarterfinals where they will play Armstrong Atlantic (25-0), 5-0 winners over Drury.
Hawaii Pacific jumped out early with a 3-0 lead sweeping all three doubles matches. The Sea Warriors won 8-1 at number 1 and number 2 doubles. CMU's number 3 doubles team of Skyler Nelson and Kristyn Wykert fell 8-3 to Lea Kruse-Utermann and Zora Vickova.
HPU's number one player and 11th ranked player in Division II, Zora Vickova defeated Kelleen Sera 6-0, 6-1 to take a 4-0 match lead. The Sea Warrior's clinched the dual after Lelyzaveta Rybakova defeated Kaylee Davis 6-0, 6-0 at number four singles.
CMU's Kaitlan Sera (#2), Shannon McNamara (#3) and Kristyn Wykert (#5) were each trailing in the second sets when the dual was clinched. Skyler Nelson (#6) was behind 4-5 in the first set when the match was concluded.
