Colorado Mesa women's tennis defeated visiting Metro State 5-4 in conference action Thursday evening. The Mavericks continue a busy weekend hosting CSU-Pueblo on Saturday morning at 9:30 am.
The Roadrunners took an early lead in the dual winning 2 of the 3 doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead in to singles action.
Kelleen Sera and
Kaitlan Sera won at number 1 doubles over Alicia Holm and Nadia Khamis 8-3.
CMU took control of the match wining four of the six singles duals, with all four victories coming in straight sets.
Number 1 player,
Kelleen Sera won 6-1, 6-2 over Holm. Number 2 player
Kaitlan Sera swept through her opponent, Marianne Evangelista 6-0, 6-0.
Shannen McNamara (#4 singles) defeated Nikki Amos 6-1, 6-1 and
Kristyn Wykert (#6 singles) beat Sam Schall 6-1, 6-2.
The dual was tied at 4-4 and freshman
Kristyn Wykert's straight set victory clinched the dual win for the Mavericks.
CMU will return to action on Saturday against RMAC foe CSU-Pueblo.
