Mavericks Stop Rangers 7-2

            The Colorado Mesa baseball team opened up a four-game series with the Regis Rangers on Friday at Canyon View Park. The Mavericks opened the series with a win 7-2 after pounding out 14 hits. The Mavericks improve their record to 16-7 on the season, 10-3 in the RMAC. The Rangers drop to 10-11 on the season and 5-8 in the RMAC.

            Nolan Snell got the start for the Mavericks and picked up his 5th win of the season. Snell went 8.0 innings and allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, walked 6 and struck out 8. Lefty Jeremy Ortiz closed the game game out, giving up one hit, and striking out 2.

            Five Mavericks had multiple hits, leading the way was Braden Box and Mitch Corwin. Box finished the game 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base. Corwin finished 3-for-5 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.

            CMU picked up some ground in the conference race as RMAC leading New Mexico Highlands lost to CSU-Pueblo tonight 8-4. 
   
            The series will continue tomorrow with a doubleheader starting at 1:00pm at Canyon View Park.
