M. Basketball Preview - Western N.M. & N.M. Highlands

Colorado Mesa will return home after a successful trip to Chadron State and Black Hills State. The Mavericks will take on the New Mexico schools at home starting with Western New Mexico on Friday and New Mexico Highlands on Saturday. Here is a quick preview of both games.

Last Week for the Mustangs: Western New Mexico picked up a pair of wins at home last weekend. They defeated Colorado Mines 77-66 on Friday then went on to dish out a 72-63 setback to Colorado Christian.

Mustang to Watch: Senior Chad Carter (Sr., Tucson, Ariz.) has been producing for the Mustangs for four years now and is one of the better players in the RMAC. Carter is averaging 13.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game in his final campaign. Earlier this season, he had 19 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals against Grand Canyon.

New Mexico Highlands Cowboys (3-2, 1-1 RMAC)

Last Week for the Cowboys: New Mexico Highlands had to settle for the split at home last weekend. The Cowboys picked up a win against Colorado Christian 87-81 on Friday night before falling to Colorado Mines 89-84 in overtime on Saturday.

Cowboy to Watch:
Forward Roland Fitch (Jr., Livingston, Ala.) is the Cowboys best all-around player. He averages 14.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest this season. Fitch lit up Colorado Christian for 24 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in the Cowboys 87-81 win.
