Colorado Mesa University closed out the fall 2012 portion of their schedule posting a 3-1 dual record this weekend at home. CMU defeated Dixie State (8-1), Colorado Christian (9-0), Mills College (9-0) and fell to RMAC foe Metro State University 4-5.
The Mavericks swept Colorado Christian and Mills College dropping just two sets in the two matches. CMU beat Dixie State winning all three doubles matches and taking five of the six singles matches.
Metro State University held the early lead on Saturday morning winning two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead into singles action. CMU's Shannen McNamara and Kristyn Wykert won in straight sets at number two and three singles respectively. Metro's number one singles player and number four player posted wins for the Roadrunners to take a 4-3 lead in the dual. Rachel McLaughlin won 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) at number five singles for CMU's fourth dual point. The Roadrunners edged out the Mavericks at number six singles in a final set super-tiebreak score of 11-9.
The two teams will square off again in the spring in RMAC action.
Shannen McNamara finished up the fall going 4-2 in singles after starting the year 0-2. Nicole Lessley and Rachel McLaughlin also close out on a four match singles win streak. Lessley is 4-1 this fall.
The doubles team of Katie Metz and Michelle Phillips are 4-2 and Sklyer Nelson and Kristyn Wykert finish up on a four match win streak to post a 4-4 doubles record.
