The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference released its preseason baseball poll and All-RMAC teams yesterday. Colorado Mesa was picked to win the RMAC, receiving 6 of the 8 first place votes from the other conference coaches. The Mavericks were also tabbed as the favorite to win the Mountain Division after receiving 7 of the 8 first place votes.
Junior
Nolan Snell was tabbed as the RMAC Preseason Pitcher of the Year. Last season, Snell was an All-RMAC 1st Team selection along with being named to the ABCA and NCBWA All-Region Teams. Snell went 7-4 with a 3.52 ERA and struck out 108 batters. He was also named to the RMAC All-Tournament Team for his outing against CSU-Pueblo where he pitched a complete game allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, walked 6 and struck out 13.
Seniors
Jared Christensen and
Jeff Popick were also named to the Preseason All-RMAC Teams. All of the Colorado Mesa selections were unanimous selections among the RMAC coaches.
Regis University sophomore Steven Brault was the Preseason Player of the Year.
CMU opens its season on February 4th against Grand Canyon University in Phoenix. The Mavericks will play a four-game series with the 'Lopes before heading home for a showdown with UC-San Diego at Canyon View Park on February 11th.
