Mavs Win RMAC Women's Tennis Title

Defeat Neb.-Kearney 5-1 - FOUR MAVS EARN ALL CONFERENCE HONORS

Mesa State women's tennis team defeated University of Neb.-Kearney 5-1 to clinch the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Title, Saturday afternoon at Gates Tennis Center in Denver. CO.

MSC receives an automatic bid to the Central Regional tournament. The Mavericks will await word next week if they will travel or host a pod on May 1-3 at sites to be determined.

MSC took two of the three doubles matches with an 8-6 win by Kelleen Sera and Kaitlan Sera at number one doubles. Victoria Sargent and Kate Lowder won in a tie-break (9-8) at number two doubles. The number three team of Skyler Nelson and Alison Grush fell 8-2.

The Mavericks clinched the dual and the RMAC title with singles victories at number 2, 3, and 4 respectively. Sargent (#2) won 6-2, 6-3 and number three Kaitlan Sera won with identical scores; 6-2, 6-3. Lowder defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles for the victory.

RMAC All-Conference Teams

Four Mavs earn All-Conference recognition

Juniors Kelleen Sera and Kaitlan Sera were named RMAC All-Conference Second Team. Kelleen played number one singles and Kaitlan earned honors for her outstanding play at number three singles. The duo earned RMAC First Team accolades posting a 22-5 overall record at number two doubles.

Seniors Victoria Sargent and Kate Lowder were named RMAC All-Conference Third Team at number two and four singles respectively. Sargent and Lowder were named All-Conference Second Team in doubles, posting an overall record of 15-11 at the number one position.
